Daredevil Wordsmith Discovers Surprisingly Effective Prospecting Practice Online

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By David Ferrers As a Marketing Practitioner I write a lot of words, mostly on my core subject How To Win New Business. Most of the articles I write find their way onto the Internet. I publish a lot online, so Im always looking for more effective ways to get my points across. Constant writing makes one very aware of the power of each word you type. My searches, whilst not always conducted with scientific rigour, have uncovered some surprisingly effective principles. I continuously test to see what response scores each method attains. Which leads me to the main point of this article. I am testing the latest issue of a software program that provides words which have appeared in effective direct response advertisements. With this software you can actually score individual words, sentences, paragraphs and headlines. There have been some big and sometimes surprising discoveries; for instance, a word like hidden scores very poorly whilst scarce achieves a high score. It stands to reason that if you use words to persuade people to order your services you need to use the most effective words you can find. So the potential of software that can find the right track is invaluable. I have always regarded myself as something of a daredevil, prepared to take risks in order to push forward to new frontiers. But if theres a way that appears to offer a guarantee of achieving objectives with less risk, then Im all for it. I plan to update readers of my articles about the effectiveness of this software. So keep a lookout for my articles here or read the updates on the Suppliers We Use page on my web site. Marketing Practitioner David Ferrers works with professional Consultants, Trainers, Coaches, Service Providers and Solo Professionals to uncover their most effective ways to win new business. He runs Shake Up Your Business workshops online, gives private Daredevil Prospecting coaching to those who need a success guarantee and constantly hones and improves his Practical Prospecting Methods. Six Sigma Jobs

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Peter Peterka The demand for people with Six Sigma expertise is constantly increasing. More and more organizations are discovering the many ways that the Six Sigma methodology can help them grow and improve. As Six Sigma spreads to many different industries beyond its genesis in manufacturing, you can now find many service and government organizations advertising for Six Sigma help. Plus, it is no longer the largest corporations looking for Six Sigma help. Smaller companies also are taking on Six Sigma projects and hiring people as consultants or permanent staff. The need for full-time Six Sigma professionals will only increase. Types of Six Sigma Jobs There are many Six Sigma jobs in many industries at junior and senior levels. The positions have descriptions and requirements unique to that organization and its requirements. It is true that many Six Sigma positions are filled internally as organizations train their own people already familiar with the organizations culture in Six Sigma skills. However, organizations frequently reach outside to add personnel with Six Sigma expertise to lead Six Sigma projects or even the full-scale implementation of Six Sigma throughout the organization. These positions are usually dedicated full-time to Six Sigma projects. Six Sigma jobs are advertised under many titles, not always as obvious as Six Sigma Black Belt, Six Sigma Consultant, or Six Sigma Analyst. Other possible titles include things like Functional Project Lead Six Sigma Program Manager, Lead Analyst/Project Manager, Director of Operational Excellence, Business Process Manager, or Senior Projects Manager. Whatever the exact title, the organization is looking for someone with the skills of a Six Sigma Black Belt. A Black Belt is an individual trained in the Six Sigma methodology and experienced leading cross-functional process improvement teams. They will lead individual Six Sigma projects. Very senior Six Sigma positions are sometimes advertised. These are Master Black Belts, individuals trained in the Six Sigma methodology who acts as the organization-wide Six Sigma program manager. They will lead Six Sigma implementation at the organization and will oversee Black Belts and process improvement projects and provides guidance to Black Belts as required. Master Black Belt positions understandably demand the highest level of Six Sigma experience and qualifications. Qualifying for Six Sigma Jobs To be considered for a Six Sigma job, you need a combination of relevant academic and work experience. The first and foremost qualification is to be trained in Six Sigma, ideally as a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. This means formal training from qualified Six Sigma consultants who have extensive experience in training and implementation of Six Sigma. Specific training in Six Sigma DMAIC and/or DFSS methodology is often requested. The best teacher is, of course, experience and organizations will strongly prefer, if not insist, on people who have completed at least one Six Sigma project. In addition to possessing Six Sigma training and project experience, organizations will ask that you have experience working in the industry of the organizations business. So if the company is a manufacturer, they will usually want you to have direct experience in a manufacturing environment. Organizations will ask that you have a certain minimum period of experience (often five years) in that particular industry. Management experience is a huge plus and will almost certainly be a requirement for a Six Sigma project team leader. Having on your resume proven project management success within a structured environment and being able to demonstrate good managerial skills will take you a long way. Thats because leading and facilitating Black Belts, Green Belts, and business teams through a Six Sigma project is often the role organizations are seeking to fill. There are also essential personal skills. You need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of processes and quality methodologies and a willingness to take an initiative and lead change. Another crucial skill is the ability to link strategy to execution. The aptitude to look beyond the surface and be creative to think conceptually about strategic business issues and develop creative but practical solutions is key. Peter Peterka is a Master Six Sigma Black Belt for Six Sigma us and has implemented Six Sigma in a variety of organizations. Reaching Your Weight Loss Goal

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Jean Lam If you think that you are the only person having problems reaching your weight loss goal, you can think again; there are millions of people out there who find the very thought of starting a diet something hateful and almost impossible. It may seem that gaining a few pounds takes only a matter of weeks, or even days, while the process for losing them might take seemingly forever; however you will notice that if you quickly lose a few pounds it may give you the best possible incentive in reaching your weight loss goal. But you may be thinking, Ok, I do want to lose those few pounds right away, but how? The answer is quite simple; you just need to avoid all those types of food with high calories amounts, and while that may seem like quite a test at the beginning, if you eat other things you like (with less calories), you will soon find out that a diet is not that hard to follow. Make sure to be gradual in your calories decrease, otherwise you will find this process incredibly hard to follow. What you need to do in order to reach your weight loss goal, is to decrease the amount of calories you consume to 1,000; but before you get to that number you will need to find out the amount of calories you are currently consuming, and each week you may decrease that amount until you reach 1,000. If you follow this simple procedure you will loose a few pounds in a matter of weeks, but the most interesting part about it is that you wont even notice, you will feel like you managed to do it without too much effort, and that boost in self confidence is exactly what you need. Once you have found out that reaching your weight loss goal is not as hard as you had imagined, it is time for you to start exercising some. Remember that cardio types of exercise are the best when it comes to fat burning, so: walking, running, jugging, riding a bike, etcetera, are by far the best routines you may follow when trying to reach your weight loss goal. Continue with this process for a month, always observing the amount of calories you consume, and keeping them around 1,000. Keep exercising your body frequently, and in just a few months you will feel better and you will look better, because you will have reached your weight loss goal successfully. Lessons for Life: Will Paying Tithing Make You Rich?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By John T Jones, Ph.D. Many church people say that paying tithing to a church or to charity will make you financially stable and bring other blessings into your family. For example, you might have good health to avoid doctor bills. Your grandmother might give you a car so that you dont have to buy one. Your garden will grow carrots two feet long to help you feed your family. Many tithe payers report such good happenings. Now some get-rich schemers, and other business people trying to induce you into their programs, say that paying your tithing will make you rich. Will it? I know thousands of tithe payers. All are happy and feel blessed for paying their tithing. Only a few are rich. I also know many non-tithe payers who are getting along fine and a few of which are rich. A study was made in Utah of the living conditions of those who paid tithing in a small town versus those who were supposed to be paying tithing but didnt. The conclusion was that both groups had the same standard of living but those who paid their tithing never suffered from paying it. They all had cars, boats, sent their kids to college, etc. The tithe payers were doing good for their church, permitting the church to grow and providing help to the needy (partly by a second contribution called Fast Offering). They also had to be better managers of their assets. My dad use to show me his tithing book. He was out of work for two years during the depression and had no income. His first entry was for $13.00 which was a full tithing for one depression year. Every year he paid more tithing as the economic conditions improved. He took this increase in income as a blessing of paying tithing. While he was out of work, like many in the depression, our family was taken care of by the Church members. We in turn fed the bums that came to our door, usually hot bread and a bowl of beans. (The bums walked two and one-half blocks passed the houses of our neighbors to get to our house. Our address was posted near the railroad tracks.) What I see in rich people is an ability to understand the basic concepts of finance and running a business. They are often from business-oriented families. They are blessed with money because they follow the rules. It always amazes me that immigrants come into our country with out a cent in their pocket and rapidly or slowly become wealthy. An entrepreneur reported that once he learned how to make money, money didn’t matter anymore as far as starting a business was concerned. What he meant was that if you dropped him penniless into Chicago with only the clothes on his back, he would become wealthy again because of his knowledge. In our church we have a saying (scripture) that when we receive a blessing from God it is based on the law on which it is predicated. Getting rich is based on financial laws. The saying says that all blessings are based on heavenly laws. That tells me that financial laws must be heavenly and must be followed to receive the blessing of getting rich. One must manage his money to start and run a successful business. Paying tithing helps you to learn how to manage your money. Im sure that some have become wealthy because they learned this principal by paying their tithing. I read reports from the histories of wealthy men who said this. Maybe that is how paying tithing can help make you wealthy. Now days many think that the final judgment does not relate to what was taught by the founder of Christianity. He said that we will be judged according to how we take care of others when they are in need. Paying tithing helps those in need. Those who pay tithing feel good about it. In my seventy-four years Ive never heard a tithe payer say he missed the money, that he couldnt afford to pay it, or that the practice did not bring blessings. John T. Five Daily Habits For Better Vision

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Gunnar Storms Bad vision habits are a major factor in the poor eyesight of the more than 150 million Americans who currently wear glasses or contacts. Most of these Americans go through the entire day doing things that are detrimental to their vision, such as reading magazines and books, watching tv for long periods, avoiding sunlight, and the major culprit of staring at a computer screen for hours at a time. And to make matters worse they usually do nothing when it comes to improving their vision or even maintaining their current eyesight. Instead they usually resort to glasses and contacts which actually weaken your eyes since you’re not using them and exercising them. The result is declining vision and the need for a stronger prescription and thicker lenses year after year. Fortunately there are ways you can incorporate vision improvement into your daily life. Here’s a few that you can probably start doing right now: 1. When reading books, newspapers, or magazines, try to hold it at a distance and find a length where you can read the letters but you really have to focus. Doing this for a long time may give you a headache so I only recommend doing it for a few minutes anytime you are reading. If done on a regular basis you will start to notice that you will be able to hold it at a further distance and still read the words. Keep holding it at a further length to continue to improve your vision. 2. In the morning, splash warm water then cold water 20 times each over your closed eyes. In the evening before going to bed, splash your eyes 20 times with cold water then warm water. This relaxes the eyes and improves circulation. I notice that my vision is usually a little clearer immediately after doing this. Another method is to take two containers, fill one with warm water, the other with cold water. Place a cloth in each one and let them soak. Tilt your head back or lay down and place the wet cloth over your closed eyes. Alternate between the warm and cold cloths. 3. If you take a bus or train route or are a passenger in a car use this opportunity to look out the window and focus on objects in the distance. This is especially good since the objects are moving and changing quickly. While focusing on an object, try to really focus on the details. For example if you’re looking at a tree, try to really focus on the individual leaves. You can practice near/far focusing by focusing on an object in the distance such as a house and then quickly looking at something in front of you such as a scratch on the window. If you are driving, try using the few seconds stopped at a red light to focus on something in the far distance. 4. If you’re like an increasing number of Americans, myself included, you spend a significant amount of time every day sitting behind the computer. This can be extremely detrimental to your vision since you’re staring at something inches away from your face for hours at a time, and also causes eyestrain. However it doesn’t have to be. When sitting on the computer simply take a few seconds every 10 minutes or so to take your eyes off the monitor and stare at an object in the distance. This can reduce eyestrain and fatigue. I would also suggest taking a few minutes to have a palming and eye rotation session every half hour or so. 5. Another major culprit of declining vision is wearing sunglasses. Although this may sound ironic since many people wearsunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun the truth is that proper amounts of sunlight are a necessity for healthy vision. Many Americans go through the entire day without exposing their eyes to the circulation and nutrients that sunlight provides by staying inside all day at work, at home behind the tv or the computer, and wearing sunglasses to shield their eyes when even they do go outside. You shouldn’t expect to get 20/20 vision solely from doing these exercises, especially if your eyesight is currently very poor. However, they certainly do help, and at the very least will help maintain your current level of vision. If you’re really serious about freeing yourself from glasses, then you also need to know the exercises and techniques that will successfully improve your vision. You also need to be aware of proper nutrition and diet, which is also an important part in maintaining good eyesight. Improve Skin Tone and Reduce “Age Spots” (Without Plastic Surgery)

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

By Deidra Garcia Few things can damage the skin’s natural appearance as much as unsightly dark spots and uneven skin tone (also called hyperpigmentation; age, sun or liver spots; or solar lentigines). Research indicates that more than 50% of men believe dark spots make them look older and devitalized. More interestingly, more than 50% of men don’t know hyperpigmentation can actually be treated successfully, resulting in an overall healthier and younger looking complexion. Uneven skin tone is very common, often starting to appear in men in their 20s as a result of cumulative sun exposure. It tends to get accentuated with time, so prevention and early treatment is a good idea. Use a product with an active skin-fading ingredient. This is indispensable if you really want to see some results. Hydroquinone is the gold standard (1% to 4% concentration) used by dermatologists and skincare professionals to fade dark areas. Hydroquinone is very effective if used regularly for 4-8 weeks. Some redness might develop during treatment, so you should consult your dermatologist if you have sensitive skin or if irritation persists. Kojic Acid and Vitamin C are also used professionally to even out skin’s coloration, and can complement the effect of Hydroquinone. Gentle exfoliation will help shed the darkened, superficial cells and expose new undamaged cells. Glycolic Acid is the most recommended product for mild exfoliation. This should also improve the absorption of Hydroquinone, significantly improving the final results. Protection from sun exposure. Sun exposure stimulates pigment production, so don’t expose your skin to the sun while you are trying to fade dark areas. Fading dark spots requires a sustained approach during several weeks while pigment production reaches normal levels and the superficial cells are replaced by new cells, but the results will be worth the time investment. What Is An Amortization Calculator?

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Arseniy_Olevskiy]Arseniy Olevskiy An amortization calculator is a very useful tool. Anyone that is purchasing a home can use this tool to help them to find the right loan for their needs. It is not a simple calculator, but one that has a little more interest to it. In fact, within seconds it can tell you just how much a home will cost you with interest included. This is not something that most people can do simply because of the compounding interest that has to be done. Yet, this tool is a great thing to use. You will find them available on the websites of most lenders as well as on many websites offering financial advice. The amortization calculator will be free of charge and there is no obligation for you to use that company to provide your loan to you. In fact, you will not supply it with any of your personal information. The tool will require you to enter specific data into it though including the interest rate of the loan you are considering, the terms of the loan you are considering as well as the amount of money you would like to borrow for it. Then, the amortization calculator will spit out some very useful information to you. It will first tell you the amount that you will have to pay monthly for your home loan at those terms. Then, it can also produce an amortization schedule which will tell you a lot more information. It will tell you how much interest you will pay for your home loan in total as well as the entire amount of money you will spend to purchase your home. It will further break down the values of the payments that you mail in each month and tell you how much of each payment, for each month throughout the course of the loan will go towards the interest and how much will go towards the principle of the loan. Now, this information can be very helpful to you. It will help you to know how much you can spend on your home. If you can only afford a $1000 monthly payment, it can tell you how much of a home you can afford to purchase by changing the values of the home. If you are looking for the best type of loan and interest rate for you, the amortization calculator can help you to compare the features of the loan that are different and give you the bottom line of what it will cost you. Further, you can use it to figure out the cost of the home with various terms included. This tool is one that is essential for anyone that is looking for the right home loan. A good borrower knows that he needs to carefully look at the options that are being provided to him and not go with the first choice he is offered. A smart shopper will use tools like this to help him to see what is out there and how they compare to each other. Since the amortization calculator is provided to you without any charge, there is no reason not to use it.
